Club Captain Clare writes:

Well I think we can say the day was a resounding success! I heard only positives – no negatives at all! The lunch production line was something to behold!  In fact all the helpers were superb. Quite amazing the way everything just “happened” thanks to the generosity of so many of our club members in the way they gave in their time. Well done Bill and Deb for their amazing organisation on the day making it all so seamless from a player’s perspective.

The only feedback was that they wanted more! A two day event! Something to consider?

Wonderful to see some CB players collecting prizes too. And we only just missed out on a team prize.....

Newly promoted Editor-In-Chief Eunice (she has such lovely handwriting) has a piece for the local papers:

Bridge enthusiasts from far afield converged on Cambridge to enjoy an entertaining and exciting day, with lovely food, super prizes and plenty of fun with the trivia quiz and, for the lucky ones, the super quality raffle baskets. The success of the event was due to the planning and organisation of the Sixes organisers who worked hard to provide a memorable day and to generosity of members of the Cambridge Bridge Club and Cambrian Lodge Motel.

Cambridge players had a successful day with Karen Payne and Kim Grounds taking second place in the Intermediate section and Calum MacLean and Eunice Eccles third in the Junior section. The top Team prize was taken by the "Alice In Wonderland" team whose members came from both Auckland and New Plymouth.

The enthusiasm of the individual teams was reflected in the fantastic variety of creative costumes which provided a  carnival atmosphere and a source of fun and laughter throughout the day culminating in a win, against strong competition, for the "Turkish Delight" team from Mount Maunganui.

Four rounds of six Trivia question were won with 18 correct answers by "The Avengers" who travelled all the way from Napier.

At the end of an eventful day, full of fun, food and fantasy the players reluctantly departed  .... looking forward to next years event!
