New RBM from Cambridge

Our very own Eunice Eccles has been appointed one of seven Regional Bridge Mates (RBMs) in the country. (RBMs are distinct from the Bridgemate tabletop devices we use at the club.) They are a newly implemented concept of Jane Stearns who was elected to the NZ Board on the back of the work she has been doing these last five years rejuvenating memberships of clubs in decline.

With two Board members in Clare and Jane, two Regional Committee members in Jan and Michael, and now Eunice as an RBM Cambridge is shaping to be quite a force in New Zealand bridge. This is reflected in our thriving and enthusiastic membership. Not all clubs enjoy such a scene. The recent Regional Conference at Matamata proved to be mostly concerned with ways to arrest falling numbers in our beloved game. It is hoped the RBMs will prove to be a major influence in popularising bridge. We wish Eunice all the best for her success in taking on this two-year contract.
