Jane and Di have done it! After a challenging first round today (Sunday), they fought back and finished third -  winning a place on the women's team to represent Waikato Bays in the Interprovincial trials later on in the year in Auckland.

They had a cracking first day in Tauranga leading the way for their bid to represent the Waikato Bays womens' team.  For the first three rounds they led the way. After the first five rounds on Saturday, they were the top female pair and were in second place.  They are the only pair to have won all 5 matches on Day 1 in the Open field.  They bid and made a slam nobody else found.  They also had a great double or two. Go Girls!

PS I am writing this from the idyllic Marlborough sounds where I have been taken as a surprise treat. This morning my husband, Philip, took me out in a double kayak.  It looked pretty choppy and I wasn't that keen but as I knew this was something he really wanted me to do with him to go in search of seals and dolphins, I obliged. For those of you who know Philip, he is an exercise nut. You know that conversely, I am not.  It is not the nicest of days and a swim in the sea was not on my agenda. So not far in to our kayak ride when I started getting wet and a little nervous of the size of the waves, I started spurting some entertaining one-liners. He found these funny until I uttered, "I could be playing bridge today!"
