Beth trumps the Intermediate champs!

It was wonderful to see a larger field partake the intermediate champs once again.  The larger numbers were also due to some juniors taking part.  It was a nail biting leadership board going into the final night with about six players in the running.

On the final night N-S was won by Vicki and Gail while Pam Halls and Kay Dixon had a great result in the E-W field.

The winners of the overall competition however came through from second positions.  Irenee was in the hot seat playing with Beth who was in top position going in to the final night. She was heard to say that she ditched writing a report in favour of  a nanna nap to be in form on the night! Meanwhile Kim was also finding form to support Karen.  Both partnerships did themselves proud scoring 57 and 59 respectively but it was Beth's result that just edged Karen into second position.  Anne also did well and came third N-S.

This left the overall average results as:

Beth 56.76

Karen 56.51

Anne 56.03 

How close is that?!

It is worth noting that Karen has come second in this comp on a few occasions now.  While that has its frustrations for Karen, it goes to show what a steady and reliable partner she is at the bridge table.

Congratulations to Beth for being the first junior to win the intermediate champs. That is indeed special for her.  She has been working hard to improve her bridge and her efforts have paid off.
