Bridge at the club is back!

Bridge at the club is back as from Monday 15th June. Next week. Yippee!  At level 1 it is safe for us to go back and play our game together.

While we can celebrate the wonderful work we have all done to get to this stage and the fantastic leadership we have had to support and encourage us, we must continue our preventative health practises to ensure we stay safe and healthy.

NZ bridge recommends that if you have any covid 19 symptoms stay away and seek medical advice; if you have cold or flu symptoms you stay home; cough or sneeze into your upper arm or elbow; dispose of any tissues used immediately and wash our hands;  avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth; try not to shake hands, embrace or kiss; wash your hands with soap and water and use the hand sanitizer provided.

At the club we will clean all surfaces, provide hand sanitizer, after each session we won't use the same set of cards for three days and will maintain contact tracing through our scoring system.

All sessions will return from next week. It is important that you be in contact with the partner ( if you have one) in your book for next week as some people may not come back immediately.

Next week is week 25 and its sessions are mid way through a series. Hence next weeks sessions will be fun sessions and will be run as one offs.  They will be scored and while we encourage you to come with a partner if you can't find one you may just come and we will endeavour to pair people up for these initial sessions. Once we start the new series you will need a partner and are encouraged to use our partnership stewards. The Wednesday night hosts hopefully will continue then. We will be looking for hosts and card turners to help.

The Monday day  series will be fun sessions for the rest of June and then begin the July series. The Monday evening sessions will  be two fun sessions and then begin the progressive pairs series( Now over three nights). Wednesday night will have two fun sessions and then start the Windsor Nissan individuals. On Thursday we will begin with the mid year social fun afternoon.  No lunch provided and run over its usual time. Then onto the RE Stowers championship individuals. Fridays will also start again.

During the week that we closed the club the club sessions were understandably not well supported.  We closed during the Wednesday night Junior championship. Hence this year unfortunately there will not be a Junior champion.

The committee voted to cancel the sixes this year and look to make 2021 the best sixes yet. Time to do justice to this fantastic tournament was against us this year.  Our fun junior restricted afternoon is still on for July 26th and our Intermediate tournament on October the 18th.

Lessons will run from July 14th, led again by Kim and with Vicki's support. Please spread the word again. They will be looking for your support with buddies and when they enter the club for the first session at the beginning of the Cambridge drycleaners individuals ( with their buddies).

We are all excited by the opportunity to play face to face again and will be doing our best to ensure that we all stay safe in these unusual times.
