Harry Shields
It is with heavy heart I have to report the death of Harry Shields which occurred yesterday afternoon.
Harry was a keen bridge player and supported Cambridge Bridge Club for many many years and his company has been enjoyed by us all.
He lead a very active life here in NZ after being born and spending his youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
He ran a successful paint and decorating business here (and did the original paint job on our clubrooms!!). He was an avid golfer, at his best playing from a handicap of 6. He had six trophies for landing holes in one and continued to play until relatively recently.
Harry was a singer and a dancer and a keen squash player in earlier years.
He was always a true gentleman with a gentle humour and he will be dearly missed.
