FAIRLANDS TROPHY RETURNS TO CAMBRIDGE AFTER A TIGHT MATCH

It was a close fought match but Cambridge just managed to haul the trophy home after winning by 660 to 640 total percent (don't ask me how that works!!). Cambridge still has some catching up to do though as Te Awamutu has still won it about eight years more often so there is no room for complacency!

We were made very welcome in Te Awamutu. The club had gone to town celebrating St Patrick's Day and all players donned accordingly so the room was a sea of green with even a leprechaun or two to be spotted. After playing 26 boards of bridge, we were treated to a delicious afternoon tea full of homemade treats. Many of us were salivating at the yummy aromas wafting out of the kitchen while playing the last few rounds - and we were not disappointed. The afternoon finished appropriately catching up with friends and reviewing the challenging hands.

Congratulations to first place winners Di and Jane obtaining nearly 70%, Eunice and Don who came second and 13th pair Inge and Christine who sailed in third. Thank you to all those who took part and entered into the fun spirit of the event.
