Programme Moves Online

In response to a number of Covid cases last week it has been decided to close the clubrooms for the time being. Our events will simply move to our RealBridge online facility. Here are the links for Week 32

10am Monday Morning - Monday Mornings in August (2)

7pm Monday Evening - The Henry Davys Championships (3)

7pm Wednesday Evening - Cambrian Lodge Motel Individuals (3)

1 pm Thursday Afternoon - Championship Pairs (1)

If you're new to RealBridge you'll find it all quite natural. There's a comprehensive User Guide at https://realbridge.online/player-guide.html - but briefly:

  1. Session will open about 15 minutes before scheduled start time. Click on an above link to join
  2. Enter your name
  3. Enter your NZB number
  4. Approve use of your mic and speakers - run the test to ensure sure they're working properly
  5. Log in .. this takes you to the Lobby where you can see some virtual tables waiting for players
  6. Click on a vacant seat to join that table - you'll be able to see, hear, and talk to the others there
  7. When the director sorts out a movement the session will begin and electronic cards appear
  8. When it's your turn to do something - bid or play a card - your name will get a yellow highlight
  9. ... you're launched .. the rest is just getting used to the environment

Here are a couple of interesting things you may not know about viewing online play results:

You - or anyone not even involved in the play - can return to view any session by clicking the original link supplied

Online results published to Milan-style websites like ours have a special new feature:

  • Pull up your personal score sheet and you'll see an icon that looks like a scroll of film at the end of each row .. under the Play header
  • Click on that and you'll be taken to a BridgeWebs page that will repeat the sequence of play as it happened
  • (You need to select the contract first - click the yellow square)
  • The card actually played has an asterisk beside it whereas the recommended cards along with the number of tricks possible are shown in green
  • You can go "off-piste" by trying other lines of play
