NP 3 - Bergen raises, semi-preempts, Strong Multi 2D, Weak 2s with OGUST

Seminar 3 - Sunday 22 April 2018 7-9pm NZT - Live at Cambridge Bridge Club

Clubs and groups of 4 do not have to host their session at this time.

Only if they wish to be able to Skype Jane during their session do they need to run it at this time when they can Skype between 8pm and 9pm NZT on the day of broadcast only. Skype address: jane.stearns64 Skype calls only accepted from players from NZB and ABF affiliated clubs who have registered their group prior to course commencement.

Preparation for Seminar 3

1. Print off BOTH sets of bidding notes FIRST.

2. Make up boards for the seminar in advance. THERE ARE TWO BRI FILES.

One .bri file is for the Strong 2D bid and there are 4 boards and bidding notes to accompany those 4 boards to put in the back of them. Deal boards 17 to 20.

The second .bri file has 13 deals - but they are not boards 1 to 13. You will need to deal the 13 using the following boards: 1, 2, 3, NO BOARD 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, NO BOARD 13 OR 14, 15,16. These boards cover Bergen Raises and Weak 2s and OGUST. Deal only the boards you see from the bidding notes you have printed off. Hand records attached if you are making up by hand.

3. Insert the bidding note behind the boards - remember bidding notes 1-4 for the Strong Multi 2D are now Boards 17 to 20 that you have dealt.

4. Print off the hand records and insert the small record behind the relevant board number with the bidding notes. Remember the records for 1-4 go behind 17-20.

5. Print off enough seminar notes for all attendees. They will be using these during the session.

6. Print off the cue cards - one set for each student to take away and practise with after the session.

7. Ensure your venue has wifi and the equipment to play a YouTube video to students.

You do not need to set up any form of scoring. Students are welcome to use their seminar notes throughout the practical session.

Bid and play the boards following the viewing (Skype calls to Jane accepted between 8pm and 9pm NZT)
After each board, read the bidding notes on the back of the board and discuss. Ensure you replace the bidding notes in the back of the board for the next group to view.
Take away the cue cards to practise with.
