Drum roll…..this year’s junior champion is ELS COCHRANE!

What an amazing result for Els, who was unable to play bridge last year, to come away with the 2026 junior championship! I am sure she is very grateful to her respective partners who helped get this result.  Go Els!

The results were close….very close indeed and the runner up was Alan Lowe.  Very well done to him who also claimed silver last year.

In third place was Paul Carpenter, last year’s champion.

Also worthy of a mention are new learners, Cooper and Alex, who finished 8th and 9th respectively. A great result!

Ayako and Irenee are our Intermediate Pairs Champions

Congratulations to Irenee and Ayako who have won the club’s inaugural Intermediate pairs championship competition with an average of 56.5% over the four week competition.

In second place were Sue Aitken and Barb Wilson with a very respectable average of 56%.

Mathew Chestnut and Steve Hunt, our newest intermediate players in the field, came third - a great achievement.

Congratulations to all eight pairs who competed and many thanks to those who came to make up five tables each night to make it a viable competition.

Michele and Mathew - their smiles say it all!

Huge congratulations to new partnership, Mathew Chestnut and Michele Liddell, who win the first competition of the Waikato Bays Intermediate league in Hamilton on Saturday playing consistently well all day achieving 60.55% in the morning and 65% in the afternoon. Special kudos to Mathew as he only turned intermediate this year.

Lovely to see other Cambridge intermediate and junior players enjoying the event as well.  Congratulations to you all for making the day a fun one!

Thank you, Irenee, for the photo,

Mike, Herman, Anna and Richard in Plate teams final

Not often do we have Cambridge players at the top of a teams competition heading into the final round. Congrats to Mike and Ella, Herman and Steve Baron who played at the Tauranga Congress on Sunday and played brilliantly to finish top after five rounds.  Unfortunately they got knocked off their perch in the final round and are playing for the plate today, along with Anna and Richard. Best of luck guys!
