2025 starts with a roar

Clare Sun, 19/01/2025 - 04:41

Thanks to Property Brokers sponsoring the first night of the year and providing an amazing BBQ, we had over 50 members taking part on the club’s opening night. PB Waikato regional manager, Chris Moore and his wife Teresa were ably assisted by their son, Cooper and sales consultant, Malinda. Their BBQ skills was like watching poetry in motion and loaded table of hamburgers quickly vanished!

The idea was the inspired brainwave of parents, Ian and Pam Moore.  Property Brokers, who sponsored several club events last year, wanted to support an event where they could have more interaction with members.

And what better opportunity for Cooper, who plans to learn bridge this year, to see our club in full swing! Teresa reported that there has been plenty of 500 being played all summer in readiness!

It was great to see new and longstanding members enjoy the event as well as a few faces we had not seen for a while. Congratulations to last year’s learner Mathew Chestnut and Di Emms for winning NS and Paul Carpenter and learner John Swafford winning EW in the handicapped competition. In fact a number of the learners did extremely well, which was lovely to see.

Thanks to Ian and Pam for organising the evening as well as Anna for getting our club ready.
