Anna, Di, Jane and Michael begin their 2019 GCC quest
Update - Tuesday
Anna and partner Charlotte got off to a cracking start by qualifying for the Intermediate final section. While they did not finish in a podium spot, neither did they finish last in the toughest section in their field. Well done them!
Meanwhile Mike and Ella battled it out in Swiss Pairs and Jane and Di in the Open pairs. Both pairings used their respective events as a warm up for the week. They are now in the teams event with over 200 teams! Jane and DI have paired up with Russell and Leslie Watt from Auckland. They got off to a great start with 2 wins.
Anna's team is positioned nicely sitting in the top 20 of the 102 intermediate teams participating after three wins and one loss.
Good luck to them all as they work through 12 rounds!

Yes today (Saturday 16 Feb) marks the start of the 2019 Gold Coast Congress. This is a wonderful event in a lovely venue in the Gold Coast (duh!) where many kiwi bridge enthusiasts venture year after year.
Good luck to the following playing in the main (huge and scary) Open section. For some, winning the Fancy Dress seems like a winning outcome!
Jane and Di
Michael and Ella (Hamilton) -please can someone send me a better photo to upload?!
And to Anna and Rochelle (Te Aroha) playing in the smaller Intermediate section (posing with John Key at the airport en route to the GCC!). Anna is playing the first event with Charlotte Jager from Te Aroha.
Looking forward to some blogs coming from the GCC over the forthcoming week. Meanwhile I will aim to keep you updated with any notable news. Or you can check out the GCC site for yourself https://www.qldbridge.com.au/gcc/
