Bridge at the club is back as from Monday 15th June. Next week. Yippee!  At level 1 it is safe for us to go back and play our game together.

While we can celebrate the wonderful work we have all done to get to this stage and the fantastic leadership we have had to support and encourage us, we must continue our preventative health practises to ensure we stay safe and healthy.

Members will have received an email today recommending we all get used to playing on-line at BBO (BridgeBase Online). Additional full instruction on what it's all about can be found on the Ashburton website .. thanks to Mary Buckland and others.

Following NZ Bridge guidelines, unfortunately we have to take the following actions.

Temporary closure of the bridge club for four weeks starting from next week. If you don't wish to play for the rest of this week please let your partner know. If we have the numbers we will be playing Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon. After four weeks we will re evaluate the situation.

Postponement of lessons until later in the year.

Cancellation of our junior tournament.

A fun series with 10 teams taking part, including two teams from our neighbouring clubs.

The winners though were a Cambridge team the Queens! Well done to them. Great dressing up too!

This afternoon saw the annual Fairlands battle contested between Te Awamutu and Cambridge. The new Club Captain for Te Awamutu, Debz Morris, had done a grand job of rounding up the troops. With 10 pairs from each club in a tournament that has been running since 1988, tensions were high. Actually the mood was most convivial and our visitors were just lovely to play against. 

Can ALL members be extra careful and adopt practices to prevent the spread of the virus. These are the main suggested precautions against spreading of the Coronavirus:

Its time for our annual fun bridge in the gardens. We are very fortunate to be going to Sue Aitkens again for another fabulous afternoon of bridge. A beautiful venue with mature trees for shade. 248B Tauwhare road

Monday night teams are coming up soon!  As the year is 2020 The Theme for the series is The Past 20 years. The clipboard for you to enter your team is at the front of the club. Pre entry is required by the 26th February. Join in the fun!

Wednesday night teams take place in May. The theme for these is The Future 20 years.  Use your imagination.

For the next two weeks Di Emms is away and Anne Blewden will sub for her as Monday partnership steward. Di returns on the 12th February and will be back ready for the Monday 17th February.

For the next two weeks please contact Anne if you need help. The Monday night sheets will continue to go out next Monday and please fill out and return to the club so that we know who may be available. If you would like a partner for particular evenings please put it on your sheet.
