Google has pulled the mat from under the way we have been sending the results from our scoring system. Some members have found the results turning up in their Junk Mail folder when their email client thinks it suspicious. Vicki Jacobsen recognised as the latest Life Member

It was no surprise to many to see Vicki become a Life Member at the conclusion of this year’s AGM. As Paul said, Vicki has been an extremely valued member since she joined as a newbie learner in 2010. Since this time she has supported the lessons, been Club President for five years, done the Programme Book, been the Computer manager as well as helped out in numerous other ways like making her fabulous Victoria sponges to mark special birthdays!

AGM 2024 thanks its President, Paul Phillips

It was a nice turnout at this year’s AGM.  While Paul thanked the many people who make the club such a success, the Committee - represented by Kim - took its turn to thank Paul for the work Paul has done in his two year stint as President.  Her words were echoed by Bob McQueen who thanked Paul for his strategic leadership in this time and also acknowledged the excellent financial report by Kevin Whyte and ongoing behind the scenes help by Mike Neels.  Again these were sentiments shared by others during the evening.

Christmas Crackers

A fun day was had at Waikato Christmas tournament by the ten or so appropriately attired Cambridge players participating.  And lunch seemed to help members find their form! Sue and Els were rewarded for the biggest increase in scores between the first and second session. Steve and Jo won the afternoon session prize. Anna and Clare had a better afternoon session finishing 6th overall. The top prize was won by our very own Herman with partner John Wang, who had two cracker sessions. Well done to them!

Cambridge Intermediate Tournament

It was wonderful to see a full room of 18 tables on Sunday for our Intermediate tournament this year sponsored by Ryman Retirement villages. Thanks to Paul P and Sue K for stepping in at short notice so there was no phantom.  They were amply rewarded by finishing 8th overall and winning the prize for the best junior pair.

But the Real Glory ..

.. goes to Sue and Els who finished second in the NZ Junior Pairs (top EW in the first session) and to Kevin and Clare who finished second in the NZ Restricted Pairs Qualifying and fourth overall after 21 rounds in the NZ Restricted Pairs Final at Congress
