What a successful Sixes Tournament !!
From our Club Captain
The 2024 Cambridge Sixes tournament was played yesterday and was a resounding success with 38 teams contesting the event.
Nope .. Ian and Lynette Win the Henry Davys
Coming home in grand style Ian and Lynette Bond took out the premiere pairs event in 2024 with an average of 61.6% over four of the five nights in the series. Runners-up were Richard Solomon and Anna Kalma with an average 58.67%. Michael and Malcolm came third with 56.15%.
Can Michael make it 3 in a row??
Congratulations to Michael, winner of the R E Stowers Championship Individuals (Thursday) and also winner of the Club Championship (Monday night).
Michael, along with his partner Malcolm Smith, are now sitting in third position for the Henry Davis Championship Pairs (Monday). But they'll need a good night this coming Monday to knock Ian and Lynette Bond off their perch, but it is doable. - Ian and Lynette are sitting on 60.61, Anna and Richard on 58.48 and Michael and Malcolm on 57.41 - watch this space!!

Beginners’ Lessons
The lessons were very successful with evening lessons on Tuesday night and daytime lessons Thursday morning with over 40 players completing the 10 week course. Kim Grounds and Pam Moore were very grateful for the amazing help from Anne Blewden and Josie van Weerd plus all the club members who came to assist at the tables and approximately 40 members who have offered to be buddies at club sessions for three weeks.
Mike and Ella win in Taupo
Congratulation to Mike and Ella who won the 5A Open Tournament at the Taupo Bridge Club!
We all know how much Mike and Ella contribute to the game of bridge, and Mike, in special, generously donates his time to any club needing a hand with Compass, scoring, and much more…how lucky we are to have Mike as a member of our club!
This weekend (11 and 12 of May), it was great to see Mike and Ella playing in Taupo, and it was even better to see their efforts rewarded against a very competitive field.
HAPPY HOUR SOCIAL BRIDGE starting Friday 3 May 6-8pm
From Friday 3 May we will have an informal bridge night from 6 - 8pm.
Everyone Welcome
It will be purely social with no club points awarded. We may have a half hour after play to discuss the boards if you should wish.
If you bring/organise a partner you are guaranteed to play, but if you turn up and we have an odd number of players, we can swap around every other hand.

Cambridge Junior a Fun Day
The club hosted its annual 3B Junior event on Saturday 20th of April. We had 15 tables under the control of director Pam Moore and scorer Liz Clayton with plenty of help and nibbles from the supporting membership. This pic of the happy players was supplied by Bob McQueen:

Junior Champion
Congratulations to our new Junior Champion Sue Keating – well done Sue! Sue was closely followed by Brian Graham-Smith in second and Ailsa Henderson third. Thank you to all other Junior players who made the competition possible by ensuring we had more than the required number of tables (5) each night required throughout the series.
