The annual battle with Te Awamutu bridge club for the Fairlands Trophy is planned for 17 March in Te Awamutu.  If you are available to play that afternoon (exact time to be confirmed), please sign the clipboard in the club rooms.  We are seeking members at any stage in their bridge career to take part.  Te Awamutu does not have as many members at the moment and it makes it more fun to pitch teams of similar abilities.

Cambridge hosted 19 tables on Sunday; the director's nightmare of a table number but Dallas and Mike worked their wonder and everyone soon settled in to a day's bridge while the sun shone outside! Thank you to Vicki and Liz who were on standby but got the joy of clearing up morning tea instead! 

The themes for the two team events have been announced!

Monday night starting the 25th February. C for Cambridge. Using the letter C as a starter come up with some C ideas for dress up!

Wednesday night starting the 8th May  Dots and Spots.

A powerful new tool has been added to the handrecords available on this site.

Do join us in the Cambridge club rooms for the first of the six competitions that makes up the Waikato Area Pairs.  Players of all levels are welcome.  There is a (small) monetary prize for the best non-Open pair as well as the overall winners on the day, as well as of course the coveted A point to play for each session!

I first met Dot 9 years ago when she, along with John started Bridge lessons with me and a few others.  Sadly Bridge wasn’t John’s game (nor my husband’s as it turned out) but it was Dot’s.

This was the start of a great friendship.  Along with Barbara and Marilyn we spent many hours practising and trying to get the hang of this confusing game over the Christmas holidays the year we learnt.  And we did learn but we laughed more.  

It was too tempting not to capture this moment after the AGM.... and on Wednesday members worked out what Philip, Grant and Kevin were thinking,,,,

Bloody teens always on their screens

After five years as President, the club was sorry and sad to see Vicki step down in her leadership role. Anne (2018 vice-president and 2019 President) summarised perfectly Vicki's many achievements.  These included rejuvenating the club rooms, the 80+ High Tea, growing every bridge session, baking cakes to recognise special birthdays, providing even handed leadership, being inclusive of all our members and being kind and caring - including visiting those who have been sick at home or hospital.

With no end to the rain, it was a perfect day to play bridge in Rotorua!

Top Honours went to Herman and Yuzhong who had a huge morning wth 67% and did enough in the afternoon to be the overall winners.
