What a great day we had at Don Rowlands this year! A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to make it the success it was. You are all stunning the way you quietly get on making the day look effortless and professional. 

While I cannot name everyone who helped and the list is too long thanks to all you wonderful members, kudos awards to:

- Kim who never got thanked on the day for presenting and helping with all the paperwork 

- Allison who marshals us all into action and ensures everything is in place 

A number of us had a fun day playing Swiss pairs in Matamata on Saturday.  One aspect I love about heading to Matamata is that no matter how badly the bridge goes, you know that you will be royally fed.  Always delicious food and items I am seeking out the maker for the recipe. 

For Mike and Herman, the bridge went well too finishing 7th. Well done to them!

The day went very smoothly thanks to Pam’s efficiency and excellent directing. 

On Saturday, it was the Intermediate tournament at the Mount. Several Cambridge players attended.  Well done in particular to Nandy and Denise who came second overall.

Michele and Deslee came 4th overall - great result!

Steve and Sue got off to a stunning start winning the morning session prize but slumped a bit after lunch finishing 8th overall.

There was also a junior tournament running concurrently but no winning results to report, mainly because Cambridge did not have many entries.

It was a great way to spend a Sunday, playing the next round of the WAPs in Te Awamutu.

Well done to Helen Rinaldi and Catherine Cameron who came 2nd overall.  However the real standout result goes to Else Cochrane (junior) and Mathew Chestnut (new intermediate) who came 2nd in the morning and 3rd overall after a very solid day of bridge - ahead of open players Mike and Kevin as well as Joy and Clare who respectively finished 4th and 5th overall.

Well done to everyone who took part, especially to  Judith Howard and Nick Saunders who came 4th and fifth place winners, Irenee and Don McPherson.

Congratulations to our new Monday Night Club Champions, Clare Coles and Kevin Whyte. 

Clare and Kevin were well-deserved winners, taking the lead on the second night and maintaining an unassailable advantage through to the finish. A fantastic performance throughout the competition—very well deserved!

Congratulations also to Richard Solomon and Anna Kalma, who finished in a well-earned second place.

Well done to all who took part and thank you for another great competition. 

On 4 July 2026, we recognised Cambridge Bridge club’s 50th anniversary in golden style.  The rooms were decorated beautifully ready to welcome everyone.

The Morrinsville open restricted Swiss pairs was a very enjoyable event according to Pam Moore, who directed now that she is a NZB Tournament Director.  It went particularly well for Michele Liddle and Deslee Howell who finished 4th overall, which was very commendable in a 24 table field. Also well done to Steve Hunt and Els Cochrane who finished 6th and Joy and partner 9th.
