A great day at the Sixes

With 34 teams all arriving on time the annual Sixes tournament was off to a great 'Sporting' start on a beautiful day at the Sir Don Rowland Centre, Lake Karapiro.

After Team photos were taken (thanks to Bruce and Dawn Hancock) all attendees were welcomed by our President Paul Phillips (his first Sixes - both to play and attend).

Directors Caroline and Murray Wiggins wheeled in from Hawkes Bay in their cycling gear.

Our Roof Repaired

Perhaps you had to dodge around the scaffolding on a recent Wednesday. In a busy day Cambridge Roofing swooped in and refurbished the flattish roof of the street-side extension. After 30 years and a couple of heat pump units installed it was past used-by date. Clayton's team replaced some purlins, re-mounted the aircon units, and redid the flashings to see us right for another 30. A couple of pics:

It has been a pleasing start to the 2023 bridge year with all sessions showing an increase in numbers from last year. Currently we have 3 events running including the Junior, Intermediate and Open individual championships. The Junior event is on Wednesday evenings with the Open and Intermediate, starting on Monday evenings. I would encourage members to arrange partners and play in these events.

TOURNAMENTS

Cambridge Club’s Junior and Novice tournament is on Saturday 15 April.

The 2022 bridge year has come to an end and it was particularly pleasing to see the playing numbers gradually increase after several setbacks due to Covid.

A special thanks to our retiring president, Allison Vince, who has helped us navigate through these challenging times and welcome to Paul Phillips our new President.

Opening night of 2023 is Wednesday 11th January, a draw for partners evening, where all members are encouraged to attend.
