The Old Duffers did not live up to their name and off to a great start, winning three out of three matches. The question is will they also be dress -up winners?
Team 7 clubs has also got off to a thumping start having two big wins to take them to the top of the leaderboard for now.
Great to see everyone getting into the spirit of the event.
Each team will get to vote best dressed on final night to win David’s emporium vouchers.
Please find attached the final teams, which have been adjusted slightly so that each team has at least one intermediate or open player.
Thank you to all those who are pitching in to help complete a team.
It is essential that you either find a sub or let Clare know on 021762543 if you are unable to play as full teams are an absolute requirement each week!
It is with sadness that I need to inform you that Sheila Wardlaw has suddenly passed away. I will always recall Sheila’s warm and friendly disposition as well as her quick wit.
Sheila, who lived in Aberdeen, Scotland with her loving husband Doug, was very active and always walked everywhere according to friends, Anne and David Blewden who have visited them in their home country.
It was wonderful to see 12 tables full of enthusiastic novice and junior players today, especially given the challenges of navigating the NZ bridge website to enter the tournament this last week. A special welcome was made to a founding member of our club, Laura Somerville.
The day was a friendly and successful event thanks to Pam’s directing and Ian Moore helping in a multitude of ways.
The event was sponsored by Resonate and Nellie came to present the prizes.
We are looking forward to our junior tournament this weekend.
Please contact our Club Captain, Ian Moore, on 0274706070 if you are struggling to enter on the revamped NZBridge website.
Apologies for the delay in posting these pics
Congratulations to Paul who had a cracking night sitting in South seat with partner Meagan, finishing with 64% to finish as Cambridge Junior champion 2025 with an average of 56.57% over the four week series. A worthy runner up was Alan Lowe who was the only contender with four consistent results over 50% every week finishing with an average of 56.14%.
Commiserations to David Taylor and Diane Brown who were in serious contention but did not find their stride on the final night. However they should be proud to finish respectively in 3rd and 4th places.
New Zealand Bridge will soon be switching to a fresh new website. If you're already registered with NZB you'll be receiving an email giving further detail. The attached downloadable document gives answers to anticipated FAQs
